Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.. All examples of artists that Okke Punt listened to when he was young and still gets his inspiration from today. Artists with a story to tell, a songwriter’s heart and the voice to tell that story.

Born on the 15th of May 1992, Okke Punt grows up in a warm and loving family in the town of Lisse, a small town somewhere between Amsterdam and The Hague. He falls in love with drumming at the age of 9, which to his own frustration (and the joy of his neighbours) is a relationship that isn’t built to last. After singing along with Bob Dylan CD’s in his bedroom, playing Bruce Springsteen’s The River on harmonica and teaching himself some basic guitar chords, his parents encourage him to start singing. So he does, and the start of the rest of his life is a fact.

At the age of 18 he gets admitted to the Conservatory of Amsterdam at the Pop Music department A place where he’s allowed to develop his singing and songwriting skills. He spends 6 years playing in the band of Yori Swart as a background singer and harmonica player, with shows ranging from Denmark to Vietnam. But when Joe Sumner arrives to give a songwriting workshop, everything starts to change. Okke gets invited to tour with his band Fiction Plane, taking him to the other side of the world and back, playing in legendary venues such as The Roxy and the Mercury Lounge.

In between flying back and forth to America, Okke decides to compete in the Dutch TV show The Best Singer/Songwriter of Holland, a show based on writing and playing music live on television. He does well, finishing in 2nd place. This gives him the opportunity to further build his career and write more music than ever before.

In September 2016 Okke is releasing his debut live-album: Okke Punt. A collection of songs written in the past couple of years. Everything live, telling stories of the past and the future he wants to create.
